North Shore Edge Wrestling

Of the many sports in which your child can participate, Wrestling is perhaps the most misrepresented, misunderstood and underrated. The ratio of participation to public awareness is remarkably lopsided.

Wrestling is a great sport because anybody can do it. In this sport, you wrestle people that are the same weight as you; size is not an issue as it may be in a sport like football or basketball.

The sport of wrestling also helps young people develop important qualities such as self esteem, sportsmanship, work ethic and leadership skills.

Wrestling is the blueprint for overcoming life's challenges, and the learning ground where these principles are tried and proven.

Wrestling is the world’s oldest sport and teaches control, not violence.  The objective is not to destroy or harm your opponent, but to out-maneuver them to gain control. In essence Wrestling is unique in the fact that it can be aggressive without being violent.

Wrestling develops agility, balance, reflexes and strength in every major muscle group and can dramatically improve one's ability to perform in other sports.

Our Mission -

North Shore Edge Wrestling Club was founded in 2008 with a single goal, to offer a high-quality youth wrestling program for the New Trier School district and surrounding communities.

While it is true the Edge is considered a feeder program for New Trier, the North Shore Edge aims to include all interested wrestlers regardless of their school district.

The focus here is developing the Wrestler first.

In addition, it is our philosophy that low frequency, high-quality practices at the youth level can be more beneficial than 4 or 5 day a week, high intensity practices like some other youth programs.

North Shore Wrestling Club is devoted to teach the sport of Wrestling in a safe and controlled environment to kids of all ages and skill levels, our coaching and philosophy makes the North Shore Edge one of the best Wrestling programs in Illinois.
